What actually causes phobia? Well, as reported on listofphobias. org Phobia is a negative emotional disorder, caused by an interaction between biological and environmental factors. Such factors include emotional trauma, unpleasant situation and negative experiences that often become imprinted in a person's memory. These unpleasant memories are converted to fear after some repetitions with the same situations and consequently make the person become phobic.
Treatment of phobias might be in form of psychotherapy referred to as cognitive behavior therapy. Cognitive behavior therapy may involve exposure to very thing that cause the phobia. Within this type of therapy, the individual gradually works up the strength to face the situations he or she fears most. This allows the individual to become better skilled at coping with these anxiety inducing situations and to develop the confidence to face their fear.

There is another type of treatment that involves the use of medication and therapy combine together. When these types of therapy are combines oftentimes the person that is suffering will experience relief very fast. Some of the negative points of medication are side effects and finding the right type of medication that will work for the individual.


A good number of individual, suffer from one kind of phobia or another. Just as the saying that a certain man's poison is another mans happiness, what may be phobia for me personally may not be for you and does not occur in children more than adults. Adults suffer from phobias too although childhood phobias occur most commonly between the ages of 5 and 9 and tend to fade as the child starts to grow older.
By definition, phobia is an intense, uncontrollable, irrational and persistent fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. There are many types of phobia, too many to cover them all on this article. Thus, we can only touch on some of the more common known phobia experienced more frequently nowadays.

Carcinophobia-The Fear of contracting or being around cancer.

Emetophobia-Concern of vomit in public places or watching someone else vomit and its considered to be one of the most common phobias.


Specific Phobia- Is were Individuals that have a specific phobia or fear for specific animals, men and women, situations or the environments.

Agoraphobia-Also associated as Panic Attacks Is an anxiety disorder that were the individual feels unable to make a sudden exit. A lot of people find it very difficult to stay in public places. Such individuals with agoraphobia may avoid going to a stadium, church or concert, or traveling for a bus or train.

Necrophobia-Concern of death or dead things or people, this includes coffins and tombstones.

Social Anxiety Disorder- Social phobia is an intense fear of becoming humiliated in public places or social gatherings, specifically of embarrassing yourself in front of others. Individuals with social phobia fear cultural situations where they may end up being humiliated, embarrassed or judged by people.

Aerophobia- The intense fear of flying and will include airplanes, helicopters and any other mode of flying.

Acrophobia-That intense fear of heights.


In conclusion, if you suffer from any kind of phobia, seek medical attention for proper treatment and guidance. You don't have to live this way there are methods to control and in many circumstance to cure your Phobia.
